Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Rocket League: But It's Not the Car You're Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only place where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. However, whether players will actually want to equip it is another question, as there's only one Simpsons car everyone is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most gamers would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer designed personally in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. Not even getting the Canyonero, the enormous truck showcased in season 10. Rather, players will obtain the Simpsons' everyday beat-up sedan, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic symbol of the series. For those who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan shares the same hitbox as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

And it's not the sole cosmetic from the series coming to the game. The event will also include a set of challenges to earn more goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a official announcement, the challenges will require participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and drive a distance worthy of picking up the ideal pastries!"

While the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also get wheels with a TV displaying the show's title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event lines up with the major Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new playable area of Springfield, as well as a 30-day seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event begins on November 1st and ends on Nov. 17.
