Marnus Labuschagne Dropped from Australia's ODI Squad to Face Team India
Labuschagne finds himself omitted from Australia's three-game ODI series facing India, with in-form Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw earning a shock selection.
Recent Form Lead to Exclusion
Selectors dropped Labuschagne from the ODI squad following being dismissed for one in both of his innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. He has a best innings of forty-seven in his most recent ten ODI innings.
The 31-year-old has featured in 68 ODIs and amassed 1,871 runs at an average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now work towards a Test recall ahead of the Ashes beginning in Perth on 21 November.
Renshaw's Return and Other Squad Updates
Labuschagne has shown signs of a return to form with a score of 160 for Queensland in the domestic first-class competition this week, while Renshaw scored a century for the Bulls in the identical match against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his first white-ball appearance in the forthcoming series against India after his last inclusion in an ODI squad in 2022.
He has played 14 Tests with the most recent appearance in India in 2023 but is also aiming for a red-ball recall as Australia search for a solution to their top-order woes.
